The obvious question to me is “what about that tortoise?” Is he the angry guy’s pet? Do tortoises just run around wild where you live? Weird.

I accidently met with a friend at a lunch resort and he told me about his post-traumatic stress disorder and how, when it kicks in, he literally could end up killing someone or himself. He said it like that with such conviction that I believe him. Is there any way to force someone to get professional help or remove them from society so that they are no longer a threat? Doesn’t seem possible, in a free society and yet there is an alarm about someone so obviously insane. What would it have been like with fewer witnesses and no daylight and in a more remote setting? Yikes.

ah, this story. yes, frankly one of the most clearly hurt and angry people i’ve met in a long time. in fact, out of the four of us, i bet me, tall asian girl with cell phone and ability to cry at will, was by far the greatest threat to him. he reminded me of my father, amplified in his worst moments and i think that’s what allowed me to deal with the situation by mirroring his empty threats with my own calm, rational ones. i’m glad you and tie-dye and zoon got out okay.
