Kai,

I just the heard incredibly tragic news. I had no idea he struggled with depression. It saddens me deeply to think of how hard this must have been for him.

I remember him fondly as the brilliant, alway smiling, always inclusive, and genuinly kind fellow geek at pcOrder. Our favorite host of cocktail parties.

I actually "talked" to him in Jan '08. His was one of the first names that popped up in my mind when I started looking up old friends and colleagues from pcO. We reminisced about out pcO days, the old Maxima that he bought from me (and the fact that I made him haggle :)

Thank you for writing such a nice post Kai. It made me recall his juggling skills, I had forgotten about that.

Hvil i fred Shawn hilsen din venn Peri.

Hi Kai,

Thanks for writing this thoughtful and poignant post. It captured a lot of great insights into Shawn. It was also interesting to see similarities in your experiences with him. I don't know if you remember me, but we met briefly with Shawn last spring. It was outside the breakfast burrito place a stone's throw from his apartment. Shawn spoke very highly of you - so much so that I thought we should have courted you to work on the startup we were doing! Anyhow, hope you're doing well.

Best regards,
Paul
